Install the Pro ZIP

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the downloaded ZIP, and click Install Now.
  2. If the free version of BackupRidge is already installed, WordPress will ask to replace it — click Replace current with uploaded. Your settings and backup history are kept: the plugin slug is identical, so this is an in-place upgrade, not a second plugin.
  3. Go to BackupRidge → Pro, paste your license key, and click Activate. Every feature included in your plan unlocks instantly — no restart or re-install needed.

Troubleshooting

  • Upload fails with a file-size error: the Pro ZIP is around 1.5 MB, well under the upload limit on virtually every host. If you still hit one, ask your host to raise upload_max_filesize, or upload the ZIP to wp-content/plugins/ via SFTP or your host’s file manager instead.
  • “The plugin does not have a valid header”: the ZIP downloaded corrupted or incomplete. Download it again from the button above rather than re-uploading the same file.
  • Activation limit reached: your license is already active on its full site allowance. Open BackupRidge → Pro on one of those sites and click Deactivate, then activate here — moving a license between your own sites is unlimited and self-service.
