How It Works

Three steps. That’s it.

No configuration headaches. No developer required. Install, configure, and sleep well.

1

Install & Activate

Search “BackupRidge” in your WordPress dashboard, or install it directly from WordPress.org. Click install. Click activate. 30 seconds.

2

Configure

Choose what to back up, how often, and where to store it. Defaults work great out of the box.

3

Relax

BackupRidge handles the rest. Get email notifications when backups complete. Restore anytime with one click.

Use Cases

What BackupRidge is built for

Freelance Sites

Set a schedule, add an off-site destination, and let it run. No upgrade nags in the dashboard, no locked buttons — the free plugin covers a whole client site.

Agency Migrations

Restore a backup onto a fresh WordPress install to move a site between hosts. Old URLs are rewritten to the new domain automatically during restore.

WooCommerce Stores

Every backup captures the full store — products, orders, and customer data — and restore brings it back exactly as it was.

Pricing

Free forever. Founder pricing while it lasts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is BackupRidge really free?
Yes. The core plugin is free and always will be. It includes full site backups, scheduled automation, one-click restore, and basic migration. No trial period, no feature lockout after 30 days. Archive encryption and incremental backups are Pro features.
What's included in Pro that isn't in Free?
Pro adds incremental backups (only backs up what changed — faster and uses less storage), archive encryption (AES-256), premium cloud providers with OAuth sign-in (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Backblaze B2), advanced cron scheduling, multisite support (Agency plan, coming soon), white-label branding (Agency plan, coming soon), and priority email support.
Does BackupRidge work with WooCommerce?
Yes. BackupRidge backs up your entire WordPress installation including all WooCommerce data — products, orders, customer info, and settings. Nothing is left behind.
Will backups slow down my site?
For most sites, the impact is negligible — backups run in small, resumable chunks to avoid memory spikes, and scheduling is off by default, so you choose when they run. On very large sites or hosts with limited disk I/O, you may notice some load during the file-archive and upload phases. If that's a concern, schedule backups for off-peak hours and pick the Slow host or IO-constrained performance preset in Settings.
Can I migrate my site to a new host?
Yes, onto a plain WordPress install. Back up the current site, install BackupRidge on the new one, bring the archive in (browser upload, or copy it over FTP and use Discover local backups), and restore. If the domain changed, the old URLs are replaced with the new ones automatically during the restore — there is no extra step. See Moving to a New Host. Receiving an incoming site this way is free; pushing a migration directly from one BackupRidge install to another (including staging clones) is a Pro feature.
Can I resume a backup if it stops?
Yes. BackupRidge saves progress checkpoints and resumes from the last safe point. If needed, use Dashboard recovery actions or system cron trigger guidance in docs.
What happens if WP-Cron is unreliable on my host?
BackupRidge includes watchdog and resumption fallback behavior. For hosts with weak cron reliability, configure the WP-Cron and system cron trigger guidance so resumptions continue.
Can I restore specific parts of a backup?
Yes. Restore can target specific components (database, themes, plugins, uploads, and more). See restore documentation for component-based recovery.
How does archive splitting work?
Large backups are split into numbered parts. You can download individual parts or use Download All for complete sets.
Import Backup uploads are slow or fail. What should I change?
Tune PHP upload limits and chunk size. See Import Backup and Upload settings for upload_max_filesize, post_max_size, and chunk guidance.
Is the backup directory protected from web access?
Yes. Backup and upload paths include web-access protection controls. See the Security Overview section.
Where are backups stored?
By default, backups are stored in a protected directory on your server (wp-content/uploads/backupridge/). You can also connect Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, FTP, or SFTP for off-site storage. Pro adds Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Backblaze B2.
What's the refund policy?
All Pro and Agency purchases come with a 14-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. If it’s not right for you, submit a refund request via our contact form.
Do I get updates with my license?
Yes. Your annual license includes all plugin updates and new features for the duration of your subscription. If you don't renew, the plugin continues to work — you just won't receive future updates or support.
How do I enable loopback (self-call) on LiteSpeed?
On LiteSpeed hosts, WordPress can fail to reach itself (loopback) for cron and backup resumptions because the server aborts PHP when the connection closes. Add a noabort rule to your site’s .htaccess for wp-cron.php and admin-ajax.php. See our Documentation → Troubleshooting → LiteSpeed & loopback for the exact code, PHP options, and other checks.
