Getting Started
You'll be backed up in under 2 minutes. Follow these steps to install and configure BackupRidge.
Pro customer? Follow all the steps below, then see Step 4: Activate Pro to enter your license key.
Install the plugin
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New and search for BackupRidge. Click Install Now, then Activate. You can also find it directly on WordPress.org.
Alternatively, download the zip from our download page and upload it via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Run your first backup
Navigate to BackupRidge in the WordPress admin menu. You’ll see the dashboard with a big Backup Now button. Click it. BackupRidge will back up your entire site — database, plugins, themes, and uploads.
Depending on your site size, this takes anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes.
Configure your schedule
Go to BackupRidge → Settings. Set your preferred backup schedule:
- Hourly — best for high-traffic sites or WooCommerce stores
- Daily — the sweet spot for most sites (recommended)
- Weekly — fine for static sites or blogs with infrequent updates
Activate your Pro license (Pro & Agency only)
Go to BackupRidge → Pro. Paste the license key from your purchase confirmation email and click Activate.
Every feature included in your plan unlocks instantly — no restart or re-install needed.
Can’t find your license key? Check the confirmation email from LemonSqueezy, or contact us for help.
Connect cloud storage (recommended)
Go to BackupRidge → Remote Storage. Connect at least one off-site destination: Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, FTP, or SFTP (free), or Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Backblaze B2 (Pro). Storing backups off-site protects you even if your hosting provider has a complete failure.
Set up email notifications
In BackupRidge → Settings (Notifications section), enter the email address where you want to receive backup confirmations and failure alerts.
You’re all set.
BackupRidge is now protecting your site. Need help with anything else?
